How it works
TomatoSense looks at the colour and appearance of your tomato and tells you whether it's ripe or still green.
1
You upload a photo
Take a picture of one tomato, or choose a few from your gallery to check them all at once.
2
We compare it to real tomatoes
The photo is checked against hundreds of ripe and unripe tomato photos it has learned from.
3
You get an answer
Ripe or unripe, plus how sure we are. The photo is analysed instantly and never stored.
How accurate is it?
96%
When tested on 80 tomato photos it had never seen before, TomatoSense got 77 of them right. It's a helpful second opinion — not a guarantee.
Good to know
- It works best with a single tomato per photo, in good light on a plain background.
- You can check up to 20 photos at once — big photos are shrunk on your device before they're sent, so it stays quick on mobile.
- It only answers ripe or unripe — it can't spot damage, rot, or tell varieties apart.
- Unusual colours (yellow or striped varieties, strong lighting) can throw it off.
- Your photos are processed on the spot and never saved.
